analysis of digi pack - 1989 T,S
Analysis of Digi-pack advert

in this advert, the colour scheme of a faded out colours used on the digi pack.. The pastel colours used creat on the post creates an effects which helps relate the polaroid images to the poster.. The same colour pallets purple, blue and white is used on both the poster and digi pack to show a link between the two products. the main image is a long shot of the artist siting on a cream/white chair covers the "I" on her name this is to shows possession and indicates to new fans that the main "Taylor Swift"
the use of synergy in the poster is very clear as the CD cover feature in the poster along with the side of the half CD hanging from the side.

Equipment list
Technical Use:
-Digital Video Cameras: we used two digital cameras during the production of our music video to help us grasp the scenes from different angles, it also gave us the option to compare both angles by having different perspectives on what happening in the scene.-Tripods: We are going to use a tripod to make our footage look more professional rather than having unnecessary shaky shots.
-Apple Mac: we will be using final cut pro and Photoshop to edit our products which easier to use on a mac.
-Mobile Phones: some of our footage is filmed on a phone to give a contemporary effect on a music video. we will also use it to play the song whilst recording the footage to see the duration of the footage.
Prop Use:
-Make up: make up such as foundation and mascara will be used on our female characters to fit the roll of youths. it also helps define their features and makes the female characters feel comfortable.
-Pills: the pills is going to be used in our music video to fit with our narrative that the main female character dies.
-Ring: we will take various shots of the females ring to create a dramatic effect on the audience to represent the the breakup of the relationship.

INTERTEXTUALITY IN MUSIC VIDEOS
Intertextuality is the link between two different media texts, in a music video this could mean referencing another text in the lyric or having the artist in the music wear a costume or make-up that clearly can be identified with another text.
A popular music video where intertextuality is clearly used in a music video similar to a parody is drakes "energy" where is seems as the the artist appears to be making fun of other celebrities where the fans can easily identify who or what is being referenced. In the energy music video, drake uses his facial features and merges them with the celebrity and recreates an iconic moment or set in a recognisable setting.

using intertextuality in our music video would be an effective form of promoting our music video to our target audience. in order to simplify our music video for our target audience, we will not be using intertextuality.

Categories Of Music Videos
There are three three main types music videos;
Performance based music video focus on the idea of having the majority of the music video different shot types preforming their song to the camera or an audience. This could be a band or a solo artist commonly used in rock as their concerts are often high energy, the viewers are able to experience the excitement of the band when preforming to their audience. indie music videos tend to preform to the camera which allows them to include a narrative as part of their music video. Performance based music video includes the artist lip-sync to the lyrics of the song, and the majority of the the video including the band playing

ANDREW GOODWIN MUSIC VIDEO THEORIES
1. A relationship between the lyrics and the visuals, in fact the music video can contradict, illustrate or amplify the lyrics
when a music video is used to amplify a songs lyric, the director reinforces the literal meaning of the lyrics. This allows the audience to understand the true meaning of the song without having to speculate. an example of this can be stitches by shawn mandes as he literally gets beat saying its very obvious that hell need some stitches after the bruises and cuts on his face "ill be needing stitches"
An illustrated music video is great way to simplify the visuals to the lyrics it allows the the audience to understand it simply by showing what the lyrics mean in the visuals. silento - watch me (whip/nae nae) official music video is clear example where the song fuses famous dance moves into an upbeat music video targeting people of all ages

2. star image, multiple close-up shots of the main artist or vocalist
goodwin made a point where the importance of reinforcing the image or style of the artist as a promoting tactic to target a larger viewership. the audience look forward to seeing their favourite artist in a music as there curiosity is what makes fans look forward to music video. in order to promote the artist work, by having the artist feature in the music video as the protagonist as most music video do the viewers are able to enjoy there work allowing them to build there brands and grow their work. this is commonly done by having multiple shots (close ups/ medium close ups) of the band/artist playing or singing the song, alessia cara - here is a great example where where the majority of the video are close up shot of her lip syncing to the songs.
It is important for the music video to include key features that enables the audience to identify the genre of the song. by having a trademark helps the audience identify the artits style and help the music videos become more recognisable.
example money, flashy cars drugs/alcohol is often associated with the rap genre whereas stage performances are associated with metal videos.
4. Intertextuality
intertextuality reference to other media texts maybe present, this could be to other music videos, films and tv programs,music an example of this is taylor swifts ' love story song' where the lyrics talk about romeo and juliette. the visulas shows a the artist wearing a long white dress which suggest a more mordern version of the story/movie

5. voyeurism often plays a major part, especially in relation to females.
goodwin recognised that music videos included voyeuristic angles of women to entice the male audiences interest in the artist. it requires the females in the music video to wear revealing clothes and men to show off there muscles which is both found appealing by the female and male viewers. an example is focus by ariana grande wears short clothing and dances seductive as she stares straight into the camera.

My understanding of of Adoro and Hebdige and how they perceive popular music.
The idea of of popular culture originated from 'The Frankfurt school', they were group of Marxist philosophers from Germany during the mid 20th century.They were concerned with the role of popular culture in exploiting the masses and maintaing the power of bourgeoisie. they represent the first attempt to write about popular music.
Hebdige is a media theorist who contradicts Adorns theory on popular music. Adorno believed that the majority of people who listen to popular music, consume it without thinking, whereas Hebdige believes that the mass audience are not manipulated. He is known for his views on society.His thoughts on popular music was that they were repetitive and were the same. He viewed fans of popular music were easily influenced and absorbed by it.he felt that the genre attracted lower class and looked down upon. He believed that true art was classical music and that people who listened to classical music are educated, cultured and are from middle and upper class.

I am creating my music video to engage young adults who are fans of the indie genre. They tend to be very passionate about their music as they take inspiration from the genre artist. wearing clothing that may have a reference to particular artist or song as their normal everyday clothes. the subculture i am creating my music video for may have an interest for rock and can be very open to mainstream popular music, many tend to be musicians themselves or have a hobby for playing instrument.

DYER'S STAR THEORY
WHO IS RICHARD DYER?
Richard Dyer, born 1945 is a film study professor at Kings college university. dyer originally from Leeds studied French, English, German and philosophy at St. Andrews university, then worked in a theatre before getting his PhD at Birmingham University in English. Richard specialises in cinema, queer theory and the relationship between entertainment and the representation of race, sexuality and gender.He had a passion for writing and wrote a few books on film studies and theatre, writing his first full length novel 'Stars' in 1979.
WHAT IS STAR THEORY?
Brought out in the 1980, the book is an attempt to to bring together theories about stardom. throughout the book, Richard links historical, ideology and aesthetic significance of stars to the way they are changing as time progresses. it traces were stardom first began and studies the theory of whether stars are real or just and image molded by the media.
Richard implies that the famous stars that are seen today are not actual people but in fact representations of what people should follow or aspire to be. these stars are like puppets to their managers are told what they can or cant do to sustain there representation shown to fans. the media are able to manipulate their actual emotions to interest their own viewers. His theory states that 'a star is an image not a real person that constructed out out of range of materials' such as the magazines, social media and films.
hegemony is the theory that people relate a stars life to their own, leading to idolizing the star which can then encourage them to replicating exactly what the star does or even looks like. some stars are carefree of their status as role model and forget that some of their negative habits/actions can encourage their fans to copy them because they feel its all right e.g. smoking and drinking recklessly.

Music Video Analysis
Hello - adele - soul
The music video begins with a close-up shot of what looks like a window and its shelf, the clear detail such as a stained window and the dust/pebbles suggest that the location is pretty messy and not been cleaned properly. the background is blurry which specifically forces the audience to focus on the window. this effect makes the viewers curious as to wear the camera is placed. the silence also helps to create the suspense. the colour used in the music video is very odd colour that is not used in most music videos of today's time. as the blurry shot from the window focuses on the outside, the music video begins to focus on the dietetic sound for a minuet to for the audience to understand the narrative a little bit more. as a car passes by we here the voice of a women who seems to be loosing signal. as a fan of the artist Adele her voice is very distinctive and loyal fans can already recognise he presence just by hearing her speak.
the long shot of the outside with just a single car impatiently suggest that the location may be the country side. as the next shot focuses on the backside of a women's hair, she states "I just got here and I'm loosing signal already" this suggest that the female is also new to the location so the viewers are able to relate to her first reactions towards the setting.
As he camera focuses on the artist face, she puts down what appears to be a flip phone this relates the colour scheme of the video. At this point in time the audience are really curious as to who she is on the phone to as she s very apologetic for her poor signal, this suggest that the person on the other side may be important to her. as the wind blows hair she dramatically looks back and then looks forward again using an over the shoulder close up shot is a technique for the director to capture the singers face up close so the audience are up close and personal with the artist, the shot may also be a way for the director send a message to the audience the importance of Adele's facial expression in that shot.

The director uses two shots of a young 14 year old black male looking through a draw as though he is looking for something in a panicked mode, the low key lighting represents his emotion and the natural lighting coming from the window suggests that the boy is in the dark and he's ignoring any positive guidance from a role model (which links to the artists other single "no role modelz").
Within the second mise-en-scene of the boy, the audience see a mirror with a reflection of the window, black and white photos of a child and a wooden cross. These props suggest that the room may belong to an older middle aged person due to the dull and simple bedroom set up.

The music video includes diegetic sound which is usually un-common especially in a rap music video, it makes the narrative easier to understand due to the actors and actresses tone in voice and use of language.
J cole fans will notice the singer appear as the character that cheats with the female charater who poses as a wife/mother. in this scene the rebellious son "Bunks" school with his friend and unexpectedly turns up in the house expecting nobody to be there. The troublesome teenager sees another man (played by J cole) and his mother who is under dressed together and immediately freaks out and storms out furious. the narrative makes viewers go through an emotional roller-coaster as the the son is originally the villain as he steals from his father we later see him as an innocent victim as he expresses his feelings through his reaction.

As the audience are aware of what the son, Kyle had witnessed, we feel the tension in the dinning room as the family are eating together. the curiosity of whether or not he is going to inform his father of what he had seen keeping the audience in suspense however the jump cut to the last scene disappoints the audience reminding them that this is a music video and not a movie.
